Taro Izumi
As a child, Taro Izumi spent his days drawing lines on the backs of graph paper and straw paper that his father, a chemist and teacher, used in his work. The new work “Reaction Order, Cloudy" presented in this exhibition combines the cover of an old file given to Izumi by his father with a drawing that he describes as "a companion to his contemplation over the years, but a stranger to his thoughts that will eventually overtake him." The drawing, which has rarely been seen by the public due to its seclusion, and the cover of the file, which has gradually changed over the years as it has been kept in the artist's study, have been mixed together to create a cryptic work that is tinged with secrecy.
