Finished
"Imagerie" is a French term meaning "image" or "imagery."

In this exhibition, the term is used to refer to popular prints and printed materials such as book and magazine illustrations, book covers, postcards, and posters. During the Taisho era, when publishing culture rapidly developed due to technological advancements, the world of imagerie also entered a golden age. Notable artists such as Takeji Fujishima, Goyo Hashiguchi, and Yumeji Takehisa, who were exploring new methods of expression, were active in various fields of imagerie at the time. Among these movements, graphic designers like Hisui Sugiura emerged and significantly influenced modern design.

This exhibition will showcase a wide range of Taisho imagerie designs and illustrations. Additionally, it will feature English books and prints from the collection of the Koriyama City Museum of Art, highlighting their connection with Taisho imagerie.
