Summer Vacation Collection Exhibition: Beyond the Frame, France - Enchanting Artistic Grounds

Menard Art Museum
Finished
Feel the history in its buildings, the stylish people, and the art—it's easy to be captivated by France.

This exhibition showcases approximately 80 artworks primarily focused on paintings from the Menard Art Museum's collection, featuring French artists such as Cézanne, Matisse, and Braque, as well as works by Japanese artists like Tsuguharu Fujita and Yuzo Saeki, who studied in France.

Themes include women living boldly in their times and their attire, cityscapes, rural scenes, and summer resorts, along with art revolutions of the 20th century such as Fauvism and Cubism. Explore the art that unfolded in France and the artists' inspirations and expressions throughout the country. Let the frames connect the paintings with the viewers and evoke thoughts about France through these works.
