Sumida Mukojima EXPO 2024 is a rare community-based cultural event that traverses the entire town of the Kyojima, Yahiro and Bunka areas in Sumida Ku, which will be held for the fifth year this year. It should be noted that the EXPO is not an open call for entries, but is characterized by the voluntary joint participation of the people themselves who have a relationship with the host area and the EXPO.
This year's concept is Sumida EXPO - the 'it' you find is surely art - by Rua Soda, a travelling chef with ties to the local area, as the conceptor, and the specification is that visitors are free to discover their own unique experience. This year, a record number of international artists, over 100 in total, inspired by the special theme of "Flowers" and "Forests" for this year's EXPO, will be participating in the event, including a number of Ikebana artists, flower artists as well as performers, artists, photographers, food artists and musicians.
