Small Exhibition by Collection: Tiffany, Gallé, and Dome - The World of Radiant Glass

Nagashima Museum
Finished

Artists

Louis Comfort Tiffany, Emile Gallé et al.
This exhibition will showcase stained glass work by Louis Comfort Tiffany, renowned as a leading figure in American Art Nouveau, along with works by Émile Gallé and the Dome brothers, which are characterized by unique colors.

Tiffany, the eldest son of Charles Lewis Tiffany, founder of the Tiffany & Co. known for jewelry and silverware, was born in New York. Instead of inheriting the family business, he studied painting in Paris, expanding his expertise into decorative arts, interior design, and stained glass production.
In 1885, he founded the "Tiffany Glass Company." His Art Nouveau style is distinct from the glasswork of Émile Gallé in Nancy, France, and the Dome brothers.

Visitors will see Tiffany's unique colors and three-dimensional effects, created using a new type of opalescent glass that traditional stained glass couldn't achieve. Additionally, colorful works such as lamps and vases by Émile Gallé and the Dome brothers will be shown.
