The Hermes Foundation conducted a workshop called "Spring Workshop: Learning from Earth, Thinking with the Five Senses" in March 2024 as part of their "Skill Academy" program. It aimed to preserve and share skills related to natural materials among middle and high school students. This led to the "Summer Class," which expands on the spring workshop by sharing interdisciplinary skills related to soil. The project views soil as a timeless medium, holding memories from the Earth's early days and serving as a habitat for diverse life forms. It seeks to create a learning space where soil, experienced through the senses, invites reflection on its role across geological time and in supporting life beyond human activities.
