Prada is pleased to present "Who the Bær," an exhibition by Simon Fujiwara at the Prada Aoyama store from October 15, 2022, to January 30, 2023.
Who the Bær is a cartoon character created by Simon Fujiwara, inspired by the world of fairy tales, fantasy literature, animation, and theme parks. Who seems to have not yet developed a strong personality or instincts, and they have no specific identity, gender, or sexuality. Who only knows that they are an image, and they explore the "Whoniverse" of images to find out who they are. The world of Who the Bær is flat but filled with unlimited possibilities.
Through the story of Who's progress, Simon Fujiwara explores various topics ranging from the climate change crisis to cultural appropriation and from cosmetic surgery to pop art. Who the Bær is a distorted mirror of contemporary society's obsession with reflection, self-expression, and the search for who we really are.
This exhibition will feature the newest illustrations, collages, sculptures, and animations. The exhibition space is divided into multiple pastel-colored carpeted areas that explore different aspects of Who and their chaotic journey.
