Seasonal Exhibition of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine: Spring

Tsurugaoka Museum, Kamakura
Finished
The long history of Kamakura began with Minamoto no Yoritomo, and the shoguns and great writers of the medieval period left their mark on the city. In order to pass on this story to the next generation, the museum introduces the history and culture of Kamakura as well as the rich nature that has been preserved and nurtured to this day, and serves as a base for information dissemination to visit the respective shrines, temples, historical sites, and cultural facilities.
The "Seasons of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine: Spring" exhibition will display items from the shrine's collection as well as items related to great writers to show how Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine was a spiritual center for samurai warriors and how great writers felt about spring.
We will also introduce the major festivals held at Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu Shrine from spring to early summer in the hope that visitors will feel closer to the shrine. We will also display costumes and ritual implements used in festivals, which are usually not available for visitors to see up close.
