Screening Event "Japanese Cinema and Music: Composers in the 1950s and 1960s"

National Film Archive of Japan
Finished
During Japan's film industry boom of the 1950s and 1960s, filmmakers collaborated with experts from various arts, particularly in music, offering composers a vital creative outlet through film composition. In 2024, an event commemorates the centennials of composers like Ikuma Dan, Riichiro Manabe, and Takanobu Saito, who made significant contributions during this era. A total of 61 works (52 programs) featuring these composers, including the Sannin no Kai group, will be showcased to honor their impact. Additionally, the concert on May 25th will feature music from Japan's golden era of cinema.
