This will be Ryota Nojima's second solo exhibition at Hagiwara Projects and will feature approximately 10 new paintings.
Nojima paints people, animals, and landscapes with a light-colored, illustration-like touch, while simultaneously working on highly abstract paintings. Although his style varies, most of his work is based on drawings of daily events and experiences. The paintings are a manifestation of the realism and reality of accumulating these daily sensations, one by one, through repeated responses to the screen. The artist affirms that there are diverse thoughts and sensibilities that are not encompassed by a single style and that there is hope in ambiguously presenting his work without clearly presenting a goal or purpose. The various elements present in Nojima's paintings, such as the titles, the images of the shapes that appear, the brushstrokes, and the colors, encourage the viewer to freely interpret his or her own story.
