Ryohei Yanagihara (1931–2015), known for creating the Uncle Torys character at Kotobukiya, now Suntory, played a key role in the "Drink Torys and Go to Hawaii" campaign, sparking Japanese excitement for Hawaii. Renowned for knowledge of ships, Yanagihara created many works about sea voyages. This exhibition celebrates the 10th anniversary of the sister city agreement between Chigasaki and Honolulu and features Yanagihara’s works inspired by the artist's love of travel and sea voyages.
