Ryo Ohwada has captured the beauty of unique subjects such as bonsai trees, Buddhist statues, vintage wine, classic cars, taxidermy, and prototype typefaces. These objects have always been translated into artworks that include elements of aesthetics, thought, and history, along with the stories behind them, to create striking images.
In this exhibition, his third at Hpgrp Gallery Tokyo in eight years since "Taxidermy Figure" in 2014 and “Type" in 2015, Ohwada presents works on the theme of Nishikigoi, which he encountered in Ojiya, Niigata Prefecture.
