Artists

Riusuke Fukahori
Artist Riusuke Fukahori, captivated by goldfish, pursues his creative endeavors using an innovative technique known as "2.5D painting." This method involves layering acrylic paint within a transparent resin to create goldfish with a three-dimensional appearance. His works give viewers the impression that real water and living, beautiful goldfish are right before their eyes. Are the images within the water's ripples real or illusionary? While Fukahori presents his works as if they are alive, he also confronts the reality that they are merely layers of paint. His art embodies the fundamental realism of the coexistence of illusion and substance.

This exhibition showcases approximately 300 works, including early sculptures, paintings, videos, and large-scale installations, featuring many new pieces. It shines a light on the goldfish motifs Fukahori has consistently explored, delving into the artist's thoughts on depiction and realism.
