Artists

Reiko Sudo
This exhibition introduces the activities of textile designer Reiko Sudo and the textile design studio Nuno led by Sudo. Combining traditional Japanese dyeing and weaving techniques with cutting-edge modern technology, Nuno has been at the forefront of the textile design field, incorporating unconventional materials into textiles and focusing on the sustainability of the industry.

The exhibition provides a glimpse behind the scenes of textile production, showcasing collaborative efforts with artisans and factories across Japan and expanding the possibilities of materials through rich documentation and multimedia installations. In addition to comprehensive displays of Nuno's activities, the exhibition features large-scale installations that utilize the gallery space, highlighting the diverse potential of textiles that captivate viewers' enjoyment and curiosity.

This exhibition was initially organized and presented at CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) in Hong Kong in 2019, followed by a tour across various European locations. After the Marugame Genichiro Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art, it is now at Art Tower Mito Contemporary Art Gallery in Ibaraki, where Sudo has connections.
