#Raku Tea Bowl #Art of Flame #Tea Ceremony

Raku Museum
Finished
In the Azuchi-Momoyama period of the Warring States Era, Sen no Rikyu practiced "wabi-cha," a tea ceremony. The Raku Tea Bowl, crafted by Chojiro, embodies Rikyu's vision of "wabi tea," “black tea bowl” that is completely black without any decoration and "red tea bowl" made from Juraku clay that blends seamlessly into the Juraku wall of the tea room. This marked the start of the Raku family's unique Kyoto ceramics. Video footage and selected tea bowls from Chojiro to Kichizaemon XVI are on display in this exhibition.
