At the end of 2022, during his visit to Japan for a solo exhibition, Mr. Rafael Rozendaal visited the under-construction Faro Nakameguro. As he looked up at the void of the stairwell placed at the center of the building and explored from the basement to the rooftop, Rozendaal nodded slowly in response to the space.
A few weeks later, several plans arrived from New York. In the spring of 2023, the artwork "Stairs," which would become the symbol of the shared office space "Faro Nakameguro," was completed. It features a rhythmic grid reminiscent of a spiral staircase, a bright color palette, and whitespace that reflects sunlight from the skylight. Rozendaal's characteristic blend of changing rules and approachability brought life to the space.
In celebration of the completion of the commissioned artwork, a representative series of works created between 2009 and 2023 will be exhibited, highlighting Rozendaal's ability to delicately navigate the realms of reality and virtuality. The exhibition showcases the allure of both digital possibilities and physical techniques.
During the exhibition, visitors are free to explore the displayed artworks throughout the venue, including "Stairs."
