Prosthetics and Work: War Wounded Who Lost Their Hands in War

Shokei-kan
Finished
This exhibition focuses on the labor of the war-wounded who used prosthetics, particularly highlighting their work experiences.

As a result of injuries sustained in war, some individuals had to undergo amputation of their hands or arms and rely on prosthetics for daily life. How did these war-wounded individuals adapt prosthetics to function as their own hands?

Having lost their hands that once functioned naturally, war-wounded individuals had to make painstaking efforts to become accustomed to using prosthetics as their own hands while grappling with feelings of loss.

This exhibition explores the journey of becoming accustomed to prosthetics for daily activities and work, as well as the emotions of war-wounded individuals in various work situations, through testimonies and writings.
