Artists

Pe Lang
Born in Switzerland in 1974, Pe Lang operates from Switzerland and is an artist known for creating minimalist kinetic art pieces across Europe, North America, and Asia. He meticulously explores the interaction between dynamics, visuals, and sound through the repeated control and operation of physical forces. His works, supposedly made from inorganic mechanical parts, unexpectedly produce movements and sounds even unforeseen by the artist himself, exhibiting soft and organic expressions.

This exhibition showcases Lang's new works and collaborative pieces with Greek sound artist Marianty Papalexandri-Alexandri. They began collaborating after recognizing their shared interest in the fusion of sound, kinetic, and visual arts, continuing their collaboration since 2008. Their joint works oscillate between sound art and the design of new instruments, particularly focusing on creating mechanical and autonomous sculptures and installations without using software or digital means. Their pieces achieve a delicate balance between control and surprise, precision and chance, challenging viewers to immerse themselves in an artistic experience that challenges conventional boundaries and preconceptions.

Titled "Future Relics," this exhibition explores the intersection of "future technology" and "ancient artifacts," reconstructing traditional concepts of time and progress, suggesting that our current advancements may become ancient relics in the distant future. "Future Relics" emphasizes the fluidity of things described as "contemporary" or "old-fashioned," prompting viewers to consider how cultural and technological evolution are interconnected.

The works, which can be viewed as ancient relics and futuristic devices, demonstrate how modern technology influences and reinterprets ancient practices. This dialogue suggests that while technology evolves, the core of human culture and rituals still hold influence.
