Wakayama City Museum
Finished

Artists

Henry Sugimoto
The exhibition showcases the artwork of Henry Sugimoto (1900-1990), a painter originally from Japan who immigrated to the United States before World War II. When the war broke out, Sugimoto, along with other Japanese Americans on the West Coast, was sent to internment camps. Sugimoto documented the camp experiences through paintings, and this exhibition features artworks the artist donated to Wakayama City. It offers a reflection on the history of Japanese immigrants caught up in the turmoil of war and in the internment camps during that time.
