In the new works, Oscar Oiwa creates a collage of landscapes that appear in his previous paintings, mainly urban landscapes, connecting the gallery space like a circle by a river flowing through the center of each screen. In the past, Oiwa has created a series of paintings set in various locations, such as the "Quarantine Series," and in recent years he has added "time" to it, moving toward a direction in which different times exist within a picture plane.

During this exhibition, Art Front Gallery will participate in "Taipei Dangdai" (May 12-14) in Taiwan, at which Oiwa has attracted wide attention through his solo exhibition and the Taiwan Lantern Festival.
The gallery will also exhibit recent works on the theme of rivers.

Art Front is a gallery space planned and operated by Art Front Gallery Co. The gallery space has its roots in Hillside Gallery, which has organized leading exhibitions for more than 20 years since 1984, including those of Masashi Kawamata, Tatsuo Kawaguchi, and Shintaro Tanaka.

In 2010, the gallery was reopened. The gallery organizes about 10 solo and group exhibitions a year, focusing on young to mid-career artists who are ahead of their time, and also introduces overseas artists active in the international art scene. One of our strengths is that we can hold exhibitions of artists participating in art festivals such as the Echigo-Tsumari Triennale and the Setouchi International Art Festival at the same time.
