Naha Cultural Arts Theater and the Naha Municipal Tsuboya Pottery Museum will jointly hold an exhibition introducing contemporary ceramic artists currently active in Okinawa.

Currently, many ceramic artists in Okinawa are creating diverse works. However, the image of ceramics in Okinawa has become firmly established since the post-war reconstruction period, and the diversity of expression is not adequately introduced within the prefecture or beyond.

What does it mean to practice ceramics in Okinawa? How does ceramics express Okinawa? Nine ceramic artists have created new works for this exhibition, seeking to express their Okinawan ceramics. These works will be exhibited in two completely different venues, the Naha Cultural Arts Theater and the Naha Municipal Tsuboya Pottery Museum.

This exhibition provides an opportunity to appreciate the diversity of Okinawan ceramics, the various possibilities that ceramics can express, and the unique expressions of Okinawan soil through the works of these nine artists.
