Noriko Ueno
Nezumi-kun no Chokki" (published in 1974) is a picture book loved by all generations. This popular work, which has sold more than 4.7 million copies in total and celebrated its 45th anniversary in 2019, is the result of the collaborative work of husband and wife team author Yoshiyoshi Nakae and artist Noriko Ueno. The black-and-white pencil illustrations, minimal text, and beautiful compositions that make the most of blank spaces have attracted attention and captured the hearts of many children.

This exhibition features approximately 160 original illustrations and rough sketches of Ueno's picture books, including the latest in the series. Nezumi-kun may be small in size, but he has a kind heart and is like a friend who is close to children's hearts.
