Artists

Naoko Machida
Painter and picture book author Naoko Machida conveys the essence of narratives through intricate brushwork and striking compositions. Machida's picture books often incorporate charming depictions of cats, and the artist's guiding principle is succinctly put as "Whenever There is a gap, there is a cat." Throughout diverse stories, cats take center stage as protagonists or play essential supporting roles. This exhibition will showcase around 250 pieces, encompassing 17 original picture book illustrations, paintings, preliminary sketches, and production materials spanning from the artist's debut to most renowned works.
