Museum Collection II Transition: What Changes and What Does Not

Setagaya Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Tatsuoki Nambata, Masanari Murai, Hisao Domoto
This exhibition examines the work of artists who pioneered new forms of expression by transforming their styles yet remaining true to their core beliefs. A prime example is Hisao Domoto (1928-2013), who began as a Nihonga artist, then shifted to Western-style painting and Art Informel before developing his own uniquely Japanese mode of abstraction.
