For many people, the cityscape seen from the Metropolitan Expressway is familiar, merely a fragment that passes momentarily. Surprisingly, people only respond to similar things. They see things based on our personal visual interests, their preferences for shapes and colors, and buildings that stand out as symbols. On the other hand, staring in all directions from a car traveling at high speed places an extreme strain on the body and mind. However, the camera, a machine, makes this possible in the process of producing photographs.

Munehide Ida visualized the sensations he was vaguely aware of between consciousness and unconsciousness while driving at high speed by photographing them while actually driving on the Metropolitan Expressway. The result was the photo book "Expressway," in which scenes that seem to congeal while flying away emerge from the precise screen after an advanced printing process.

In "Expressway," Ida's sensations, which travel between consciousness and unconsciousness, are attempted to emerge from photographs reduced to a flat surface into three dimensions.
