Mode, the global event series introducing experimental music, audiovisual arts, and performing arts will return to Tokyo this June to showcase a new edition for 2024. Spread across multiple venues from June 1st through June 9th, "Mode 2024" will present a new series of programs featuring a lineup of unique artists from around the world, some based in Japan and Asia, propagating a wave of international artistic activity across Tokyo.

The first of two programs at the prestigious Sogetsu Hall opens with Okkyung Lee, a cellist, composer, and improviser known for her collaborations with various prominent artists such as Christian Marclay, Steve Beresford, and Phil Minton, including a performance at Venice Biennale and museums and galleries worldwide. As a double headliner, sound artist FUJI|||||||||||TA has garnered high acclaim in Europe and America whilst still being based in Japan during recent years, he will debut a new live performance formed during an artistic retreat in Barcelona, Spain March 2024.

Sogestu Hall, located in the basement of Sogetsu Kaikan, was designed by renowned Japanese architect Kenzo Tange, serving as the base for the Sogetsu Art Center, which played a central role in avant-garde art in Japan from 1958 to 1971. The venue, featuring Isamu Noguchi's stone garden "Heaven" at the entrance, has a historical background supporting experimental expressions in Japan. Within this space, internationally acclaimed artists will gather to showcase their performances.
