Yukino Ohmura (1988-), an artist known for her unique artworks that traverse the boundaries between reality and fiction, realism and abstract expression, creates her pieces by layering circular stickers sold as stationery. Her work, which uses familiar materials to create expressions that everyone can enjoy, appears photorealistic from a distance but reveals individual stickers when viewed up close. The contrast between the beauty of nightscapes, which typically consume large amounts of electricity, and their recreation with inexpensive round stickers, as well as the cold, impersonal urban landscapes evoked by factory-produced stickers, instills a sense of disquiet within their beauty, captivating us endlessly.
This exhibition features around 70 pieces, including her famous "Miraculous Nightscape" series, floral series, new works inspired by the nature of Kushiro, and new expressions incorporating cutting sheets. During the exhibition period, a large-scale piece themed around Kushiro's landscapes, created collaboratively with participants, will also be on display.
