This exhibition targets children and their parents who are readers of picture books, providing an opportunity to explore and learn about the Ainu language and Ainu culture through the picture book character, Marl while having fun. Following the exhibition "Upopoy Night Museum" in its 5th edition, this exhibition focuses on the "Marl the Ghost" series of picture books.
Featuring the "Marl the Ghost" series, including the picture book "Marl the Ghost and Some Beautiful Words" (published in 2020), along with original artwork and materials from the production of the picture books, the exhibition will introduce facilities such as zoos, science museums, and art museums that serve as settings in the books, while displaying artwork and folk materials depicted in the books. Furthermore, through interactive digital art content and experiential exhibits, visitors can learn about the Ainu language and Ainu culture featured in "Marl the Ghost and Some Beautiful Words."
In this exhibition, part of the 5th theme exhibition aimed at inbound visitors will continue to be enjoyed. Unlike the 5th theme exhibition, this exhibition provides a more detailed introduction to the "Marl the Ghost" series for domestic families. By showcasing the "Marl the Ghost" series, which is a picture book from Sapporo and even from Hokkaido, the hope is to provide children, in particular, with opportunities to learn about and visit museums and other facilities within Hokkaido.
