Masaki Tanaka
Masaki Tanaka mainly creates works by reconstructing images composed of cut-out colored paper using paint on canvas or panels. Influenced by Abstract Expressionist artists, he contemplates the origins of creating objects and images, as well as the fundamental question of "What is painting?" While expressing himself, he faces his own "individual existence." Recently, to enhance the flatness of his paintings, he has been exploring further expressions under the subconscious, aiming to minimize conscious intervention when cutting out the colored paper. Although his works are highly abstract, he hopes to share with viewers the sensation of perceiving concrete motifs through the hints provided by the titles. Without being overly conscious of others or external information, he focuses on whether he, as an individual artist, finds the work satisfying, continually building a better space and relationship with his art.

This time Masaki Tanaka's paintings featuring modest motifs will be displayed in the bustling area of Okubo where various shops stand side by side.
