Mariko Ohya, a photographer who confronts her own memories and expresses the inner feelings that spring from them as light, has been photographing Toraya's seasonal brochures since 2020.
The work consists of a pair of photographs of seasonal yokan (sweet bean jelly), which are expressed using only gradations of color, combined with photographs of nature taken during that season.
The paired photographs move back and forth between each other, melting together and seeming to expand the imagination not only visually, but also to the sense of smell and taste.
