Mari Mori
The summer collection exhibition introduces the activities of Mari Mori as a writer on the 120th anniversary of her birth. Through Mari's manuscripts, books, and materials owned by her father, novelist Ogai Mori, we will exhibit Mari as a literary artist.

Mari Mori (1903-1987) was born in Sendagi, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, the eldest daughter of Ogai Mori. In 1922, at the age of 19, she went to France to study with her then-husband, Tamaki Yamada, and learned of her father's death while in Europe.

After divorcing her husband, she wrote translations, play reviews, novels, and essays, and won the Japan Essayists' Club Prize for "My Father's Hat," a collection of her memories of Ogai. Since then, she has written, "Lovers' Forest" (Tamura Toshiko Award) and "Sweet Honey Room" (Izumi Kyoka Literary Award). She cherished the love she received from Ogai throughout her life. His rich and uniquely expressed works still attract many fans.
