Hokusai Katsushika
This exhibition introduces "surimono," especially picture calendars, by Hokusai and his students. Surimono are privately printed works used for gifts and special occasions such as New Year's Day. It is a pictorial calendar similar to today's calendars, with the months of the year, large and small, hidden within the picture.
