隙間 presents「支える軽さ (The Lightness of Support)」an exhibition by Kohei Yamada.
Yamada’s creative process often begins with a canvas richly saturated with oil, initially marked by a touch of yellow in the upper left corner—a nod to traditional painterly techniques such as establishing a light source. Through the application of repetitive, abstract lines and shapes, his works develop unique spaces compressed within two-dimensional planes. Tension between colours establishes depth and perspective, whilst overlapping layers of pigment heighten a pronounced sense of physicality within his works.
This exhibition,「支える軽さ (The Lightness of Support)」 explores the interplay between form, colour, and the material nature of painting itself. Central to this exhibition is the role of the "frame," which moves beyond a traditional structural function.
