Keith Haring "Art to the Streets"

Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Keith Haring
Keith Haring, who is beloved around the world for his bright and poppy imagery. Under the belief that "art is for everyone," Haring spread art into everyday life, particularly in the subway stations and streets of 1980s New York, sending a strong message to the chaotic society and entrusting the future and hope of humanity to children.

Although Haring's career as an artist spanned only about ten years of his 31-year life, the messages conveyed in his remaining works continue to resonate today.

This exhibition, featuring large-scale works spanning six meters and a total of 150 pieces including those being shown for the first time in Japan, provides a valuable opportunity to experience Haring's art. Haring's art, which continued to fight against violence and inequality lurking in society, as well as prejudice and lack of support towards HIV/AIDS until the end, is sure to shake the hearts of people living in contemporary society across time and space.
