Kazuo Yagi Exhibition

Ibaraki Ceramic Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Kazuo Yagi
Yagi Kazuo (1918-1979), based in Kyoto, was a central figure in Souryosha, a group formed in 1948 by Osamu Suzuki, Hikaru Yamada, and other ceramic artists, and a charismatic figure in the postwar world of Japanese ceramics, pushing the boundaries of expression by producing "object pottery" with no specific purpose. Yagi's unique talent was also demonstrated in his bronze and glass works, but his photographs, which he took himself, have never been revealed. This exhibition introduces 100 photographs selected from the Yagi family's thousands of photographs.
