Kazuko Miyamoto
Take Ninagawa will hold a solo exhibition of Kazuko Miyamoto's work starting on June 1st.

Having relocated her base to New York in 1964, Miyamoto developed installations that encompassed spaces beyond the flat surface and engaged the viewer's body, thereby redefining the Minimalism movement that had spread in the male-dominated American art scene at that time.

This exhibition introduces the String Construction and drawing works conceptualized during the 1970s and 1980s. Alongside newly realized works, the exhibition will present Miyamoto's early representative pieces, including those showcased at the A.I.R. Gallery, the first female artist cooperative in the United States established in 1972, as well as installations on the brick walls of 117 Hester Street, where Miyamoto resided.

With a retrospective exhibition scheduled at Belvedere 21 in Vienna in September, this marks Miyamoto's first solo exhibition at the gallery in four years.
