Kanako Ishii "Project Re-Landscape"

Goethe-Institut Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Kanako Ishii
Kanako Ishii, whose artistic journey spans between Japan and Germany, blurs the boundaries: real and imaginary, past merging with future, inside melting into outside, memory dancing with forgetting, presence mingling with absence, light intertwining with shadow. "Re-Landscape" recreates lost scenes, evolving from childhood memories to historical quotations. In Berlin, Ishii engaged visitors in dialogue, serving Japanese tea and creating curtain-like paintings inspired by their stories. The project aims to foster peaceful international exchanges, challenging societal boundaries of ethnicity, nationality, and more.
