Artists

Kai Teraoka
Kai Teraoka has been presenting aspects of the world that are beyond our grasp in terms of our bodily scale, primarily through the use of photography, video, and sound installations. Particularly, his early work "A Cloud," which captures the front and back of a cloud simultaneously from two different points, symbolizes the cloud as an ambiguous phenomenon represented as a tangible entity. In this work, the cloud also emerges as a mediator between two perspectives separated by distance, a concept closely linked to Teraoka's recent "relay" series, as seen in "Relaying the Flowers at Home."

The title of this exhibition, "You (Me)," suggests the implicit presence of "me" behind the word "you," as well as the passive subject-object relationship based on intersubjective "me." Teraoka's works, which primarily exhibit impersonal behavior, suspend the viewer's perspective, prompting imagination about the "world that might exist" despite being recognized but not felt. Through Teraoka's expression rooted in simple skepticism, we hope to provide an opportunity to imagine the potential of the world that is self-evident yet goes unnoticed.
