James Jarvis "Hello Bauhaus"

Parco Museum Tokyo
Finished

Artists

James Jarvis
James Jarvis's innovative approach to combining cartoon-style illustrations with original figure characters is particularly striking in light of today's ever-changing and ever-expanding contemporary art scene.
The characters are created from a background of interests ranging from philosophy, language, history, and social issues to popular culture, art, architecture, and skateboarding. The title of this exhibition reflects Jarvis's attempt to approach Japanese Kawaii culture as a parody of the German school Bauhaus. He will present paintings and installations of characters that embody his homage to the Kawaii style, which is now an official language worldwide.
