Since his debut as a picture book author, Shinsuke Yoshitake has been gaining popularity among children and adults. This first major solo exhibition of Yoshitake's work will feature more than 400 items, including small sketches, original picture book drawings, and three-dimensional objects.

The gallery mainly focuses on post 20th century art and design with a particular focus on works that have a connection with the city of Utsunomiya and organizes 5-6 exhibitions a year on top of the permanent collection. It is designed as a low rise one floor building in order to harmonize with the surrounding 26 hectares of forestry and with a particular attention on access for disabled people.
