Images of Spain

Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum
Finished
This exhibition is an unprecedented project that will provide an overview of the historical development of printmaking in Spain from the early 17th century to the late 20th century. More than 200 works will explore the image of Spain as it expanded through the medium of printmaking, an art medium that could reproduce and convey images. In addition to tracing the lineage of Spanish prints by masters such as Goya, Fortuny, Picasso, Miró, and Dali, the exhibition also introduces many works produced in England and France under their influence.

The works in this exhibition are all from the collections of the National Museum of Western Art and the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum, as well as from other Spanish art collections in Japan, and will also highlight the reception of Spanish art in Japan and the richness of the collections.

First Period: April 8 (Sat) - May 7 (Sun)
Second Period: May 9 (Tue) - June 11 (Sun)
Some works may be changed during the exhibition period.
