Iittala, Finland's iconic lifestyle brand, originated from a glass factory located about 120 kilometers north of Helsinki. The brand has grown alongside architects and designers who have shaped design history, such as Alvar Aalto and Kaj Franck. Their products, created with the philosophy of providing beauty and functionality for everyone, continue to be cherished worldwide.

This exhibition, commemorating Iittala's 140th anniversary, is a restructured version of the exhibition held by the Finnish Design Museum. It includes a new section focusing on the relationship between Iittala and Japan. Featuring around 450 items, including glassware, ceramics, and videos, the exhibition delves into Iittala's techniques, philosophy, and design aesthetics.

The Akita Senshu Museum of Art opened in 1989 within the Akita Integrated Life Cultural Hall-Museum (nicknamed Atorion). Its predecessor, the Akita City Museum established in 1958, has been cherished by many art lovers as an urban art museum.

The museum houses works by artists associated with Akita, such as Shozan Satake, Naotake Odano, the Hirafuku father-son duo Suian and Hyakusui, Kogyo Terasaki, and Ihei Kimura. It also hosts special exhibitions featuring excellent works from both domestic and international artists.

Additionally, the museum includes the Kenzo Okada Memorial Hall, which permanently exhibits works by the Western-style painter Kenzo Okada, who received high acclaim overseas, particularly in New York. The exhibits are periodically rotated to provide fresh viewing experiences for visitors.
