Humorous and Elegant Kyogen Costumes

Kyoritsu Women's University Museum
Finished
Kyogen is a performing art that occurs between Noh plays, featuring simpler costumes made of flat materials like linen and plain silk, in contrast to Noh's luxurious fabrics. It humorously portrays the lives of lower-ranking samurai and commoners, with stylish, repetitive patterns on jackets and bold designs on short trousers. This exhibition will showcase expressive Kyogen masks and elegant costumes, providing a warm and charming experience for viewers.
