This work is based on the “Imako Haruka Calligraphy Exhibition: Tsutsui Yasutaka’s “Lipstick on the After image,” which was held at MGG Gallery (Tokyo) in 2022. In this exhibition, about 200 sheets of paper were transcribed from the novel, a full-length novel that describes a world where characters disappear one after another and, in the end, their existence itself disappears as their names disappear. I wrote an enormous amount of words, and in doing so, I looked at the relationship between the writer’s style and the calligrapher’s writing, and entrusted the writing with an expression that could not be achieved in printed form. In this exhibition, a video of the burning of these works and a two-dimensional work expressing the world after the burning will be shown.
