Grizedale Arts
"How Art Can Reshaped Society Today"* - Grizedale Arts is a British organization that represents Socially Engaged Art, one of the most cutting-edge movements in contemporary art. Although it is not yet well known in Japan, its activities based in the Lake District in England, which have been successful in addressing local issues and using art to influence society, have attracted international attention.

In fact, even in Shimonoseki, the same art project has been attempted in Kikugawa-cho in the city since 2017, before the COVID-19 pandemic, and since the "Shimonoseki City Kikugawa Project", related events have been held in the city, including at Shimonoseki City University. This project and exhibition, which claims Shimonoseki as one of the memorial sites where Grizedale Arts began its activities in Japan, introduces the encounter and journey of Shimonoseki-born photographer Motoko Fujita (currently living in Ireland), who acted as a bridge between the two, and also introduces the local production of affiliated artists and the history of Grizedale Arts to date.
Come experience the cutting edge of art as it seeks new developments after the COVID-19 pandemic.
