At 14:46 on March 11, 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake struck, causing unprecedented damage to the region of Tohoku. This year, Tohoku History Museum will hold a special exhibition in memory of the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami. This exhibition will feature 60 temple treasures (12 National Treasures and 27 Important Cultural Properties) from Nara and Tohoku, carefully preserved despite natural disasters and wars.
