The catalyst for this project was in 2013 when a graphic designer from Japan visited glass artist Yoko Andersson Yamano in Sweden. Prompted by the suggestion, "Why not turn your glass artworks into a book?" the project "Glass Tableware in Still Life" began.

"What kind of glass tableware do you want to paint?" Andersson Yamano reached out to 18 painters based in Sweden, Japan, and Germany, asking them to verbally request the glassware they wanted to depict in still-life paintings. Based on these requests, Andersson Yamano blew clear glass pieces. The painters then created paintings based on these glassware items, ensuring that each painting prominently featured the glassware.

The resulting glassware and paintings were photographed by a photographer to compile into an art book. Armed with an 8x10 large format camera, the photographer traveled through Sweden, Germany, and Japan, capturing the world of glassware and paintings in each painter's studio.

From the painters' requests, glass was born; from the glass, paintings emerged; and from the glass and paintings, photographs were born. Now, an exhibition has emerged, and from it, viewers' words will likely arise. In the exhibition space, the relationships between the creators and the viewers shine brightly alongside the artworks revolving around glass tableware.
