Emiri Nakada
Art communication platform ArtSticker will host a new solo exhibition titled "Wheel of Fortune" by Emiri Nakata at the commercial gallery Gallery Room・A from March 16, 2024 (Saturday). This exhibition also commemorates the third anniversary of Gallery Room・A's opening.

Nakata, born in Tokyo in 1997, graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts in 2023 with a major in sculpture. After pursuing a career as a professional ballerina and performing on stage, she began creating works using ceramics, CG, and video to explore new forms of expression. She translates theatrical elements felt in daily life into stories based on ballet, drama performances, and fairy tales, layering hollow ceramics with human figures to explore human existence.

What's remarkable about her is that Nakata handles all aspects of the production process, including character and background story creation, ceramic sculpture, and realistic 3DCG model video production. Her exceptional expressive ability, showcased in installations, has been recognized since her student days, winning awards such as the Tokyo Midtown Award 2022 Grand Prix and CAF Award 2022 Finalist. She is an emerging artist to watch for future achievements.

The title of this exhibition, "Wheel of Fortune," is derived from one of the cards belonging to the Major Arcana of the Tarot, the "Wheel of Fortune." This card symbolizes an inevitable fate and suggests the arrival of an opportunity to confront the cosmic truth beyond human power. While Nakata has continued to explore human existence based on theatrical elements lurking in daily life, this time, she will exhibit new video and sculpture works focusing on divination, superstitions, amulets, and spells—things that everyone believes in somewhere in their hearts.

※ The exhibited works at this exhibition will be available for sale exclusively through ArtSticker. Sales will open on a "first-come, first-served" basis starting from 08:00 on March 16, 2024 (Saturday).
