"Emerging Visions" will feature approximately 40 works by seven young Japanese artists.
This exhibition, which began with the aim of supporting young artists during the COVID-19 pandemic, has now reached its 5th edition. This time, alongside oil and Japanese-style paintings, three-dimensional works will be showcased, featuring a total of seven emerging artists who are leaving their artistic mark in various directions. While it is traditionally considered rare to display oil paintings and Japanese-style paintings together, by this 5th edition, their coexistence feels natural and harmonious in the same space.
Each artist brings forth their unique vision, expressing their emotions, thoughts, and identities through their work, exploring different avenues. The materials used span a wide spectrum- drawing inspiration from historical masterpieces and interpreting them through oil painting, capturing what is seen using mineral pigments, translating personal upbringing into creative expressions with industrial paint, and even experimenting with traditional Japanese lacquer techniques for artistic interpretations.
Furthermore, the exhibition includes attempts at new expressions rooted in traditional Japanese painting techniques, hidden narratives within monochromatic calendar numbers, and personal reimagining of familiar landscapes.
This diverse array of artistic expressions has resulted in a captivating and exciting show that invites viewers to explore the distinct realms of each artist’s creative rendering and vision.
