The theme of this exhibition, (east, wind, unfreezes), refers to the first seasonal term of the seventy-two microseasons calendar, which divides the year into five-day periods to reflect the changes in climate and the behavior of plants and animals. In Japan, it has long been believed that the new year begins when the warm east wind starts to melt the ice on rivers and lakes.

Through this theme, we aim to present new perspectives and the experimental nature of art, likening these qualities to the “east wind” that brings new life.

The exhibition features works that employ various painting styles and expressive forms, designed to thaw the coldest of senses, just like the east wind.
